Four States in One Day!
Man, my sister and I are rock stars. Not only did we got to Graceland, but we managed to make our way through 4 different states today! Phew…
Tennessee

What we wished we had seen if we had more time:
See yesterday’s entry!
Arkansas

What we wished we had seen if we had more time:
Petit Jean State Park – view of Ozarks
The Infamous Little Rock of Little Rock, AR
Diamond State Park
Oklahoma

What we wished we had seen if we had more time:
Route 66 Museum
OKC National Memorial
Trail of Tears
Texas

What we wished we had seen if we had more time:
Let me get back to you on this one

A wild goose chase
As I mentioned previously, we had a long day of driving. Well, we hit the Oklahoma City area around dinner time. We thought we would just take the opportunity to find dinner there before continuing on our drive. A little ways out, with nothing but fast food to be seen, we decided that we would try a restaurant at a casino which was being advertised like mad by billboard.
We exited where told, and began to follow their signs, At first, all looked well, although we did begin to wonder where this casino was located – was it in the middle of nowhere and were we going to drive forever to reach it? We decided to give it 5 minutes before we turned around. But in the meantime, my sister realized that we were on the historic Route 66! How cool was that?
Soon though, and less than the 5 minutes that we had allotted, we found ourselves located in the middle of a neighborhood. Definitely NOT on the way to a casino with food!
So, unfortunately, we didn’t get our dinner there or anytime soon. But we did get to drive on (very briefly) Route 66!

Quote of the Day – Thursday
“Yummy? I don’t think I said that. It’s interesting.”
- Friend in response to our query about the nutritional content and taste of Stuckey’s Pecan Log. 2 days ago, we had let her know we were in Columbus, OH and her reply was, “ooh. stop at Stuckey's for a pecan log :)"

Oklahoma roads are not OK
I know. Ha-ha-ha. :) I’m tired. Lame jokes will abound.
In all seriousness, they leave much to be desired.
Except for the Oklahoma City approach highway US40, which was really fun to drive (and was well-paved).

Graceland!
So, we began our day off in Graceland. When in Memphis, you can’t not go see Elvis’ home! We arrived early and managed to get tickets for the normal Mansion tour (Note: AAA rate is better than the student rate. Weird, hunh?) Anyhoo, it was totally cheesy and awesome at the same time. Some of the rooms were pretty retro – quite cool – and the audio tour was pretty informative.

Towards the end of the tour, we started to hear thunder (Weather.com, 20%??? Really? Try 100% chance of thunderstorms and torrential downpour!). So we quickly tried to navigate our way through the rest of the tour in record time, taking pictures around the dawdlers and soon, we were off on the shuttle back to the parking lot. At this time, my sister and I decided on our exit strategy – she would pick out the 2 unknown items that she wanted from the gift shop then immediately go and get the truck. I would then grab the other items that she and I wanted, pay for them, then head out to meet my sister in the handicapped parking area (as close as she could drive to). As I was waiting for the checkout, the skies got darker, more thunder rumbled, and the wind picked up. As soon as I had the receipt in one hand and our items in the other, I powerwalked to the exit, and once I hit the outside pavement, off I went running.
I’ll admit, I got a few stares (from being Asian and at Garceland versus the running, I’ll never know). But darned if I wasn’t going to run as there was already fat droplets raining down. As I ran across the main walkway and towards the parking lot, I saw the Penske truck barreling into the parking lot and turned to a stop in front of me. As I yelled out a cheery “Good-Bye” to our fellow Graceland tourists (whom I had befriended on the tour), I jumped into the cab of our truck and the torrential downpour started.

Man, what timing we had.

I heart Oxi-Clean
It took out the BBQ sauce from my dress! Tried Tide-To-Go and that just wasn't strong enough apparently. But that Oxi-clean - good stuff!
